A Star

It was my first skating competition. I skated onto the rink, shaking nervously. Then suddenly, I heard my name being called. "Anoushka...." my sir called. I skated towards him. "Okay, look, cthere's nothing to be scared of. You'll do really well. Just keep repeating, 'I will do well'- he said. I nodded. He smiled at me and told me to go and wait where all the city level children were waiting. I went there, and gave my name. Soon, my race began. I stood on the starting line, still shaking. 'Peeeeeeeeee' the whistle blew. I took of as fast as I could. Suddenly, a girl who was skating with me in the race tripped over a stone and fell. I suddenly stopped skating and went to her. I helped her get up and I saw she was bleeding on her knee badly. I held her hand and skated slowly while she rolled. There were 3 more rounds left and we rolled till the race finished. Even though both of us came last, she still thanked me for helping her finish the race. Everyone cheered for us and my family was very proud me. Even my sir was proud of me. So, by this I learnt that it's not only about winning a race, it's more about finishing it.
"Anoushka..."- mom called. I woke up with a jerk. Then I realised it was only a dream! But still, that day I was a star.
